Twiggy and Bubba/Duck

It's hard to believe that my kids are growing up so fast. It doesn't help that Nicole (Twiggy) was 10 when she moved in with us and Jaquale (Bubba, Duck, or Bubba-duck) was 10 months. Anyway. Yesterday Nicole turned 13 and Jaquale turned 3. I'm amazed by how much time has gone by since they moved in, but I'm also amazed and grateful that I have been allowed to be their mother.

Jaquale in the last 6 months has just started talking and even today is very hard to understand, but he has taught me a great deal about children and development. The other day I was doing Angel's hair and I looked at Jaquale and said,"You're next Duck." He looked at me with a quizzical grin and replied, "I'm not a duck!" For the last 2 years we have called the kiddo "Duck" and now that he is speaking more, he made the connections between the animal and his nickname. He is so much fun. Nicole has shown me what Christ can do in somebody's life. I have only been a Christian for about 7 years now and I did not see the drastic changes in my life until about 2-3 years ago. Nicole has made major changes in her life in just the past year. She came to know Jesus 1 year ago at Kansas Bible Camp, and since then her heart attitude has changed and she has blossomed into a smart loving child. She is no longer the child who breaks school windows, gets in fights, and steals. It's amazing to me how the heart of a child can mend and mold and change so much faster than an adult's.

I'm grateful that I've been able to see both of these lovely blessings grow and change.

Your family is beautiful... I just realized that you're from Kansas! My first clue was your email address... hmmm -- KSU fan by chance? My sister attended there and still bleeds purple. :-)

Hey, I grew up in KS! Maybe I can meet you some day when I visit my family!

I'm so thankful that your children are doing so well in your care and that you can see so many great changes in them. It was especially wonderful to read how you can see Jesus in their lives and how instead of breaking windows, your daughter is loving and kind. May God continue to use you!

You have a beautiful family, God has blessed you greatly. My husband and I have been saved for almost 3 years, it will be 3 years on September 20. Our children have all accepted Christ also. But like with anyone it is babysteps. Our oldest is 14 and starting to be rebellious. I'm sure it would be worse if we were not saved. I enjoyed your post.
